Abstract Circle Painting
Window with a View
As an 8th grade class, we decided to create a Louisiana inspired work of art for the upcoming Jubilee. Influenced by various photographs, magazines and Louisiana artists, students created landscapes using watercolor paint and colored pencils. Thus being a collaborative effort, students voted to have the winning design painted on an old window. Brooke Smith's "Egret" was the winning landscape. After Brooke drew her landscape on the window, students divided into groups to work together to paint. As you see below we are making progress. Keep in touch to see the completed scene...

Art for Auction
This year my 7th grade class will donate a hand painted piece of furniture to the Jubilee's silent auction. First, I brought in an antique wooden cafe chair from my great Aunt's home. I wanted the students to take something unique and give it a new life. I am blessed to have a group of very talented artists with lots of personality. Knowing that, we found Keith Haring's quirky artwork to be fitting and inspirational for this piece. Haring's use of bold lines, bright colors and active figures would encourage creativity and allow the students to give the chair a funky edge. Each student created their own design and will work together to assemble the composition. Below, Jason Frankhouser and Michael McMahan sketch out figures they will incorporate with our overall design...
