THE RECYCLED ART AUCTION @ The Arts Council of Baton Rouge Community Gallery

Last night marked the annual Recycled Art Auction benefiting Habitat for Humanity of GBR. Artists citywide are called to create works of art using only recycled materials. This is a benefit I have served and supported for several years and this year I wanted to involve my talented students. 35 pieces of art were submitted this year.  Up against many talented adult local artists, the 8th graders piece was among the top 4! This is such an honor as their work was judged by members of The Arts Council of Baton Rouge. Taking home 4th place awarded them the recognition and a gift certificate the the Habitat ReStore to purchase materials to use in our classroom. The top 4 pieces will be displayed at Gallery Bohemia located on Government St. until December 10th. Proceeds from the auction benefit Habitat for Humanity.
