Splattered Sandals

When it comes to producing pieces motivated by master artist, students immediately jump at the opportunity to fashion their ideas after art icon Jackson Pollock aka "Jack the Dripper." Usually, I am hesitant to allow too many students to gather their ideas from Pollock because I want them to truly experience their chosen master artist style and not simply just "splatter paint." It wasn't until Lilly LeBlanc broke her ceramic sandal did she fully understand the complex layers of Pollock's painting style. While experimenting with hot glue, she realized its thick texture gave the same illusion as the many layers upon layers of paint Pollock poured onto his canvases...

drip-splatter-paint-pour...and a little bit of hot glue too!
