Ceramic Containers

Clay is one of my favorite mediums to work with and teach! This year the 8th graders created ceramic containers. They learned how to form their containers using the slab and coil hand-building techniques. In addition to creating a container, each student had to seek inspiration from a master artist. They thoroughly enjoyed this project and I loved seeing where this open door to creativity led them...

Seeking inspiration from Claude Monet's "Water Lilies", Julia Moore created a "Water Lily" Pitcher.

Below, William Maley and Henry Tessier, show off their fine painting skills and appreciation for George Seurat and Louisiana native George Rodrigue.

Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso's use of vivid color and simplistic line drawings inspired Miguel Vilas to create this "Peace Pot". Using her smooth slab container like a blank canvas, Naana Adjare-Sefa went wild over Jackson Pollock!
Much like the famous marine wildlife artist, Guy Harvey, aspiring young artist and sportsman Roman Tujague was able to create this work of art inspired by one of his many fishing adventures.
